Nitrile rubber can tolerate short term dry running of the sealing lip. The operating temperature range without failure of nitrile rubber is 40 to +100 C. The internal wires are good quality with a decent number of strands, but the outer cover is standard pvc, tough but no more flexible than any other cord product. Not suitable for my use on a hand power tool, a rubber cover is better.
