Inuit Soapstone Sculpture, Sitting Canada Goose, Ali Tuttu AmittuThis is an old sculpture, circa 1950's or 1960's, in very good condition. A large piece, carved in pale green stone. Signed very faintly on the base in syllabics and disk number, by the artist Allie Tuttu Amittu (1926 1983). Known as Allie Awp he was a first generation Inuit artist, from the community of Puvirnituq, located in Nunavik. Ali (Allie) was known for great detailing in his work.
